Titles within the trailer
We created our titles within the trailer whilst we producted and filmed the shots, then added them onto the Final Cut sequnce before the shorts. We thought this would be easier as it would help give us a better structure of our opening title sequence and enable us to be more in control and have more understanding on the trailer.
'Faith Williams made the following call to her friend'
'She has been missing since'
These two titles were used at the beginning of our sequence and broken a part with a few shots between each. We used these simple sentences for the titles as we thought that it intrigues the audience and doesn't give too much away. On both titles we used a simple, white font on a plain black background which slowly zoomed closer to the screen. This made the titles stand out to audience and give a slight edgey atmosphere.
'Nail-biting tension - Empire'
'Haunting & Horrifying - The Sun'
'Corkscrew-turning suspence - Guardian'
'You'll cower in fear - Daily Express'
These were the rest of the titles used within the trailer, again, broken up by various shots between them. We thought that by putting short reviews of the film that the trailer is representing it would again intrigue the audience. By using well known names such as Empire and The Sun also helps reasure the audience that a well known brand has recommened the film. The short descriptions also tease the audience by not giving much away. Words such as 'tension','suspence','fear','haunting' and 'horrifying' show the audience the genre of the film, it also gives a hint of the sub-genre, paranormal, by the word 'haunting'. By saying 'Nail-biting tension' and 'Corkscrew-turning suspence' gives the audience connotations in their head of how scary the film is by watching the trailer.
The fonts used on the titles are the same. We chose to use a simple, white font this was because we had a moving image background on these particular review titles. If we had a complicated font, it could make the trailer look over-done and unprofessional. We were insipred by the moving image on the titles on 'The Pact' trailer so therefore decided to use one too. The moving image is low-key and is dark accept from one central spot. The moving image gave the trailer a professional look and also caused a eerie atmosphere with the specific one we chose.
