We find this 'Insidious' poster effective as the main character immediately stands out to the audience, as he is presented in colour whereas the background is bland. By reducing the saturation in the background gives a sinister effect showing the audience that it must be a horror based film. The tag line 'its not the house thats haunted' also catches the attention of the audience, this is because the usual colours used on a horror poster are red however, this is in green suggesting the film is twisted or different. Also his eyes are scratched out therefore helps support that it represents a horror film.

'The Pact' poster is effective because the caption relates to the picture as its a unrecognised figure coming out of the wall, representing the genre. The use of the light focusing in the middle section of the poster draws attention to the figure in the vintage wallpaper. The dark colours also make the white title and caption stand out to the audience. The typeface used for 'Pact' is large and fuzzy in which related to the title.

The dark colours of the 'Amityville Horror' poster allows the titles to stand out in red. The use of the typeface colouring in red immediately catches the audience' eye and represents a typical horror film. The image of the old fashioned house creates a eerie atmosphere and again helps support that its a horror based film. In addition, the man with his back to the audience is in noticeably dark colours suggesting an unknown figure and intrigues the audience.
